Holly's Ark - a set of eight 8" fine bone china side plates

200 GBP

We are proud to present Holly's Ark, a quirky, original and beautiful set of 8" side plates!

There are eight different plates in the series - a pair of MEERCATS, a grizzly BEAR, sleek SEA LION, hilarious HIPPO, cheeky CHIMP, pink PIG, cantering ZEBRA and sly CROCODILE. They will complement the smartest dining tables in the land and are suitable for ages 8 to 108.

After her initial success working with Anthropologie on two homeware collaborations, this bespoke set is designed by British artist Holly Frean for her first collection of ceramic tableware under her own name. These beauties are made in the UK, silk screen printed and hand applied onto Staffordshire fine bone china. Intended for both decorative purposes and for use at the table, they are microwavable and dishwasher safe.

UK Postage and Packaging @ £10 for up to three individual plates, £2.50 each thereafter, or £20 for a set of eight. Shipping will vary if you live outside the UK. Alternatively you are free to collect the work from Holly’s studio. Gift box/wrapping is free. This can include a hand written note from the artist, just remember to make your request in the comments box when checking out.

As soon as payment is received, we aim to have your plates packed and posted within a week of your order date but to be on the safe side please allow 5-10 working days for delivery.

Welcome to The Holly Frean Shop. Here you can buy limited edition prints and plates and (occasionally) original works from the studio of Holly Frean.. A Holly Frean-themed museum shop if you will!

Holly Frean is an artist of exceptional dedication and vision. She began her formal training as an architect and draughtsman but painting portraits took over. Her studio practice has since grown to include picture-making in all its forms, typically oil paintings on canvas and gouaches on paper, also printmaking and 3D work. Infused with wit and humour, Holly’s work draws on the lives of artists and uniquely documents the subtleties in a face, body or movement. Over the past decade she has evolved a highly personal and technically accomplished style.

Holly’s work has been exhibited extensively in the UK and America. Holly's imagination and versatility have recently led to coveted textile, ceramic and wallpaper collaborations with Anthropologie, Burberry, Andrew Martin and Paul Smith.

Holly has won numerous accolades including the 2012 National Open Art Competition Painting Prize (awarded by Grayson Perry) and regularly shows at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition and the ING Discerning Eye at Mall Galleries in London. Commissions include those from the Duchess of Northumberland, designer Betty Jackson, comedians Russell Howard and Ricky Gervais, hotelier Kit Kemp, actor Russell Tovey and retailer Johnny Boden.
